In the United States, the prom is specifically held for grade three high school students each year. On that day, all students will wear various formal clothes and rent expensive cars to go to the prom. When the prom is over, students will join in a prom party at home or in a hotel.
Although the prom is the last and the most dazzling party in the minds of high school students, there are also many other forms of dance for high school students in the United States. For example, the High school should hold the other grade’s prom at least once a year. Sometimes, the school can hold the special dancing party for new students, sometimes for sophomore, and there is no fixed schedule.
Generally speaking, the formal high school dancing party has many similarities with the prom. First,they are the prom dresses. This is the only time in a year that the students meet with each other in the most brilliant clothes. For boys, it means a suit or a tuxedo, lots of hair wax, as well as Cologne! For girls, they need to wear pretty dress, graceful shoes, glittering accessories and hair spray!
The history of prom can be traced back to a long time ago. The most interesting picture which was very popular in America is about a prom in the 1870 of the 19th century. For boys, the most typical accessories are boots, and for girls is falbala. Many people rent a car that is a bubble car, or a ragtop. If there is a large group of people, they will rent a luxury car.
Prom is well known for fancy clothes, cars, makeup, but the other parties also have their own characteristics. Here will introduce a funny dance party called Sadie Hawkin’s, which is contrary to the traditional dance forms. Girl should invite boy to become her partner while boy ask girl to go out in the other forms of dance. Another dancing party called Homecoming dance usually lasts a weekend and is held in the season of the first home football game (usually on a Friday night) and on Saturday.
